A day designed to allow you to pause from your everyday life and deeply nourish the body, mind, and soul. It is an opportunity to reconnect to yourself: who you are…and who you are becoming.

During the day we will be honoring the energy of the element of Fire. Tuning in to the powerful energy of the sun, igniting a connection with your soul to make space for body and mind to rest, restore and energise.  

A day of accessible yoga and meditation practices, connection and nurturing heart centering self-awareness

The day will start with a ceremonial cup of cacao/or herbal tea, followed by meditation, pranayama & a slow but energising flow.

We will have a homemade Buddha bowl & treat for Lunch in the courtyard of studio if weather permits or next door in the beautiful Squirhill space.

The afternoon will be a Summer themed Mindul Yin session with special guest Noa Davies, Oxfordshire based Harpist.

A heart-filled immersion of live harp music, gentle mindful movement and longer held yin postures, time to reflect, recharge, and return to a deep state of connection. What is revealed when you slow down the pace of life, pause, and listen?

Having lived and taught in this beautiful part of the world for 8 years, (we returned to UK in 2015) I love sharing my love of the mountains and yoga.
Chatel is a beautiful village nestled within the valleys of the Porte du Soleil area in the French Alps. It's a picturesque and traditional resort, sporting panoramic views of the infamous Mont Blanc and the Dent du midi. Located in the region of Haute Savoie, and on the French border with Switzerland. Ideally placed right in the middle of the Portes du Soleil, Chatel is the gateway to a marvelous summer playground. You will never forget the miles of open spaces surrounding the meadows, from where you can head off into the middle of nowhere.

Whether you just want to relax, love to hike over mountain passes, or maybe you are a thrill seeker and even fancy your try at down hill mountain biking or even paragliding, white water rafting, we have something for everyone. With the combination of yoga to help support the activity of your choice, luxurious accommodation to relax in, sunshine to fill your days, you will feel life just couldn’t get any better.

HOLIDAY OUTLINE

Begin your day the yogi way with a morning yoga class to warm you up ready for the day ahead. Then there’s a delicious healthy brunch, followed by one of our organised hikes, or enjoy your own time to doing whichever extra activity you desire, from biking across snow-peaked mountains, wild swimming in glacial lakes or the local outdoor pool with views to astound you, white water rafting. If you just prefer to relax the chalet has a sauna, an outdoor spa and a lovely terrace with mountain views, there is also a fabulous spa in the village centre with thermal waters and spa treatments. Early evening we will wind down with another yoga and meditation class, followed by fabulous home cooked food. After dinner chill out in the hot tub underneath the stars then snuggle down for a well deserved and blissful sleep.

ACCOMMODATION

La Chaumiere is a luxurious mountain chalet with breathtaking views in a peaceful location in Chatel. There are all the comforts you will need to relax with the comfiest of beds, crisp linen sheets, huge soft sofas, log fires and above all a welcoming atmosphere.

THE YOGA

The morning sessions are a more dynamic practice to help us stretch, lengthen and warm the body in preparation for a day of adventure! Special focus is on the legs in order to build stamina for those hill-walks or other activities. The evening class is gentle somatic, Yin/restorative yoga to stretch out and relax sore muscles and joints. The session will vary and we will include pranayama & meditation to help you to really let go and enter a state of deep relaxation.

The classes are suitable for all abilities, everyone welcome. I am practiced at adapting the class for everyone’s level. The asanas and meditation will help increase oxygen flow, balance, clarity and promote a peaceful mind. THE FOOD

Enjoy delicious, healthy vegetarian food, which is an integral part of our Yoga retreat. You will need to feel looked after and nourished with all the exercise and mountain air! . The food is fresh, local and seasonal. Included are a delicious brunch with granola, eggs, juices and fruit, and a gourmet buffet style evening feast. Food on our retreats is as important as our yoga.

ACTIVITIES

There are plenty of activities on offer from a gentle stroll to an organised hike, mountain biking or simply relaxing in the luxurious alpine chalet with its own outdoor Jacuzzi, sauna and pretty alpine patio with stunning views or you can visit the local spa for many treatments or a swim in their lovely outdoor mountain view pool. We can also arrange an inhouse massage.

Retreat with me in the rolling hills of Sabina. With its ancient forests, medieval hilltop towns, castles and abbeys, are a world away from the rush and bustle of modern life, yet within easy reach of Rome and its airports.

The beauty of this unspoiled, undulating rural landscape has attracted a diverse community of writers, artists and those who wish to pursue spiritual practice and live in tune with nature. Off the beaten tourist track, Sabina remains an unsung, secret gem in the heart of the resplendent Italian countryside. 

In Sabina, an elegant and breathtaking retreat centre in the heart of the Sabine Hills, offers spectacular views and a magical setting. Less than an hour north of Rome, In Sabina lies in the midst of the untouched Italian country side.

The property is peaceful and rustic, offering a haven for spiritual practice, relaxation and rejuvenation. The retreat centre’s grounds are lush and abundant with lovely gardens, a pond, a natural spring and swimming pool. The perfect location for stunning sunsets and nature walks.

The exquisitely restored 17th century stone buildings have been converted into accommodation and overlook a panorama of olive groves and fruit trees. The rooms are designed in a simple, natural style, with a combination of new and antique furnishings.

There are two single occupancy bell tents and a small camper van close to the pool area with outdoor hot showers and a shared indoor toilet closeby. The tents and camper can be warm in the day but sometimes cold at night. There is no electricity inside the tents - just simple solar lighting. They do not suit everyone - only those who like ‘comfortable camping’.

About the yoga

The yoga practice will be held outdoors on the beautiful wooden yoga platform overlooking the lush valley or in the serene and tranquil indoor yoga space with views over the hills and vales.

The day will begin with a meditation, pranayama, slow flow/hatha class followed by breakfast on the terrace. After the morning session there will be time for massage, relaxing by the pool, swimming or a visit to the local village. In the late afternoon we will practice a more relaxing yin/restorative class. There will be one yoga free day and the classes will be suitable for all levels and yoga experience.


To do

-Deep rest and rejuvenation is encouraged -Relax by the swimming pool -Have a massage. -find a quiet secluded spot with a good book or take a walk in the stunning natural surroundings. There are nice walks from the house and even better ones just a short drive away.

I can not be responsible for delayed or cancelled flights, and in this circumstance you will need to take a taxi or train to Sabina at your own expense. Its around 110euro each way for a taxi up to 3 people.

A 25% non-refundable deposit is required on booking and the balance is due 12 weeks before.

Flight recommendations will be sent on enquiry. BA flights from Heathrow now open to book, East jet from Gatwick or Bristol also released but be aware of times of minibus.

Please note that arrival time at In Sabina on 5th Oct is between 4.30pm and 9pm. In Sabina cannot receive guests before then. The latest departure time is 10am.

Transfers
We recommend that you join the included minibus transfer from Leonardo da Vinci (Fumicino) airport which will be arranged to bring you directly to In Sabina. It takes only 1 hours and 15 minutes.

The earliest time a minibus can leave the airport is 3.15pm and we suggest that if you are on an earlier flight that you wait there. You will be advised of the exact meeting point nearer the time.

If you should arrive later I will help you arrange a private transfer but it will be at an additional cost.

Trains
If you prefer to take a train the closest station to In Sabina is Stimigliano. From Fumicino (Leonardo da Vinci Airport) the train costs €11 one way and takes 1 hour and 50 minutes. A taxi from Stimigliano station costs €25 (for up to 3 people with little luggage). To check train times, see www.ferroviedellostato.it

There is no direct train from Ciampino Airport to Stimigliano Station.

Lunch is served at one, with an option to eat here or get your lunch packed to take it with you if you're off on an adventure.

HOLIDAY OUTLINE

Begin your day the yogi way with a morning yoga class to warm you up ready for the day ahead. Then there’s a delicious healthy brunch, followed by one of our organised hikes, or enjoy your own time to doing whichever extra activity you desire, from biking across snow-peaked mountains, wild swimming in glacial lakes or the local outdoor pool with views to astound you, white water rafting. If you just prefer to relax the chalet has a sauna, an outdoor spa and a lovely terrace with mountain views, there is also a fabulous spa in the village centre with thermal waters and spa treatments. Early evening we will wind down with another yoga and meditation class, followed by fabulous home cooked food. After dinner chill out in the hot tub underneath the stars then snuggle down for a well deserved and blissful sleep.

ACCOMMODATION

La Chaumiere is a luxurious mountain chalet with breathtaking views in a peaceful location in Chatel. There are all the comforts you will need to relax with the comfiest of beds, crisp linen sheets, huge soft sofas, log fires and above all a welcoming atmosphere.

THE YOGA

The morning sessions are a more dynamic practice to help us stretch, lengthen and warm the body in preparation for a day of adventure! Special focus is on the legs in order to build stamina for those hill-walks or other activities. The evening class is gentle somatic, Yin/restorative yoga to stretch out and relax sore muscles and joints. The session will vary and we will include pranayama & meditation to help you to really let go and enter a state of deep relaxation.

The classes are suitable for all abilities, everyone welcome. I am practiced at adapting the class for everyone’s level. The asanas and meditation will help increase oxygen flow, balance, clarity and promote a peaceful mind. Please see my about page for more info on styles I teach as you will experience a little of all.



THE FOOD

Enjoy delicious, healthy vegetarian food, which is an integral part of our Yoga retreat. You will need to feel looked after and nourished with all the exercise and mountain air! . The food is fresh, local and seasonal. Included are a delicious brunch with granola, eggs, juices and fruit, and a gourmet buffet style evening feast. Food on our retreats is as important as our yoga.

ACTIVITIES

There are plenty of activities on offer from a gentle stroll to an organised hike, mountain biking or simply relaxing in the luxurious alpine chalet with its own outdoor Jacuzzi, sauna and pretty alpine patio with stunning views or you can visit the local spa for many treatments or a swim in their lovely outdoor mountain view pool. We can also arrange an inhouse massage.

There are places that belong to our soul. In this 17th century farmhouse, surrounded by 25 hectares of a lush private park that includes a secluded oak wood, a small river and a labyrinth garden of the first half of 18th century, we look forward to welcoming you to Sicily Spirit with Lisa Valentine.

Located in the Madonie area, in the very center of Sicily, the Masseria is a certified organic farm and produces extra virgin olive oil, wheat, vegetables and fruit that we use to prepare our healthy vegetarian meals and our homemade preserves and jams. Our heritage of Sicilian culture, hospitality and soulful traditions has a great part in our life path and sustain us to live in harmony with ourselves, others and Nature.

Nested in the heart of the Madonie mountain park, a few miles from Gangi – “Most beautiful village in Italy” prize winner – and about 40km from the enchanting fishermen village of Cefalù. Surrounded by the silence offered by its enclosed 25 hectares park, at 650 mts above the sea level, you will be able to walk for hours in the secret inner paths and in the hidden centuries-old oak forest, get lost in the labyrinth garden of the 18th century, explore the banks of our “private” river, meditate or practice yoga at sunrise or sunset in the terrace overlooking the mountains and the valley or just sunbathing and swimming in the infinity pool.

The 25 hectares park of our retreat center offers the possibility of long, silent walks on kilometers of hiking trails among over 700 olive trees, wheat fields, an orchard, an oak forest, a labyrinth garden of the 18th century and the banks of a small river, where is also possible to swim. And ofcourse there will always be the chance to swim in our fresh water pool of 18 x 7.5 mts. adjacent to the restaurant and the cottages.

Accomodation

Three rooms (around 25sq.m each) with private bathroom, are located in the main building, above the Yoga room, A fourth room with private bathroom is in a cottage in the garden, with its own private patio. These rooms will be offered as twin en-suites.

The other double rooms, with shared bathroom – one every two rooms – are located in five cottages (around 50 sq.m each) in the garden, all with their own equipped private patio and their own kitchenette. All rooms have heating and air conditioning facilities and are elegantly furnished with antique or Sicilian style furniture. These will be offered as single shared bathrooms or as private cottages for single person use with private bathroom.

Lisa Valentine.

A local yoga teacher and studio owner. Lisa has been teaching and sharing her love of yoga for 14 years, she is dedicated and passionate about the profound healing benefits of her embodied, mindful styles of yoga, meditation and wellness, inspired by ancient wisdom and grounded in modern science. Cultivating happiness and peace of mind. Lisa will lead and host the day offering yoga and movement to suit all levels.

Jenny has been a Massage Therapist for nearly 20 years training in ITEC and IIHHT and gaining a diploma in Anatomy and Physiology.

She became interested in energy healing along the way and subsequently became a Reiki Master using energy and a Sound Healer using Himalayan and Crystal bowls, Gongs and Reiki Drumming to help to shift blockages and to heal the body on a mental, physical and spiritual level.

Jenny will accompany Lisa on the closing yin yoga class with her Gongs and bowls that will promote a deep sense of well being and inner peace, with participants bathed in the sounds of the gongs often experiencing feelings of timelessness, visions or colours.The deep resonance of the gongs affects the body on a cellular level, releasing tension and stress by sonic massage.

Sara has studied and trained with some of the leading figures in the world of Ayurveda, both in the West and in India. She continues to train and spend time in Ayurveda centres in India to advance her knowledge and understanding. 

To complement her Ayurveda training, she brings to you a broad personal experience from the fields of Yoga and complementary health. Sara managed an integrative health clinic in London for some years, working alongside and learning from medical doctors and other primary carers working with complementary medicine. And she has studied with world-renowned Yoga masters. She is registered as a Senior Yoga Teacher with the YAP and is a Yoga Therapist. 

Sara’s workshop in the afternoon will be as follows

Ayurveda is India’s ancient system of medicine and healing, and it is unique in its capacity to determine each person’s individual metabolic type. Unlike many other systems, Ayurveda understands that one size does not fit all. Personalised lifestyle, dietary and even exercise and Yoga styles are recommended based on your metabolic nature. This can support better digestion, energy levels, and even mood as well as relieve and even prevent the onset of symptoms.
In this interactive talk, Ayurveda practitioner and Yoga Therapist, Sara Palmer is going to introduce you to the basic principles of Ayurveda and guide you to uncover and understand your unique metabolic type. Plus, she’s going to give you some take-away tips so that you will know how best to eat and how to adapt your lifestyle and activities according to your type for greater physical and mental-emotional well-being. Having lived and taught in this beautiful part of the world for 8 years, (we returned to UK in 2015) I love sharing my love of the mountains and yoga.
Chatel is a beautiful village nestled within the valleys of the Porte du Soleil area in the French Alps. It's a picturesque and traditional resort, sporting panoramic views of the infamous Mont Blanc and the Dent du midi. Located in the region of Haute Savoie, and on the French border with Switzerland. Ideally placed right in the middle of the Portes du Soleil, Chatel is the gateway to a marvelous summer playground. You will never forget the miles of open spaces surrounding the meadows, from where you can head off into the middle of nowhere.

Whether you just want to relax, love to hike over mountain passes, or maybe you are a thrill seeker and even fancy your try at down hill mountain biking or even paragliding, white water rafting, we have something for everyone. With the combination of yoga to help support the activity of your choice, luxurious accommodation to relax in, sunshine to fill your days, you will feel life just couldn’t get any better.

HOLIDAY OUTLINE

Begin your day the yogi way with a morning yoga class to warm you up ready for the day ahead. Then there’s a delicious healthy brunch, followed by your own time to do whichever activity you desire, from hiking or biking across snow-peaked mountains, wild swimming in glacial lakes or in an outdoor pool with views to astound you, or white water rafting. If you just prefer to relax the chalet has a sauna, an outdoor spa and a lovely terrace with mountain views, there is also a fabulous spa in the village centre with thermal waters and spa treatments. Early evening we will wind down with another yoga and meditation class, followed by fabulous home cooked food. After dinner chill out in the hot tub underneath the stars then snuggle down for a well deserved and blissful sleep.

ACCOMMODATION

La Chaumiere is a luxurious mountain chalet with breathtaking views in a peaceful location in Chatel. There are all the comforts you will need to relax with the comfiest of beds, crisp linen sheets, huge soft sofas, log fires and above all a welcoming atmosphere.

THE YOGA

The morning sessions are a more dynamic practice to help us stretch, lengthen and warm the body in preparation for a day of adventure! Special focus is on the legs in order to build stamina for those hill-walks or other activities. The evening class is gentle somatic, Yin/restorative yoga to stretch out and relax sore muscles and joints. The session will vary and we will include pranayama & meditation to help you to really let go and enter a state of deep relaxation.

The classes are suitable for all abilities, everyone welcome. I am practiced at adapting the class for everyone’s level. The asanas and meditation will help increase oxygen flow, balance, clarity and promote a peaceful mind. THE FOOD

Enjoy delicious, healthy vegetarian food, which is an integral part of our Yoga retreat. You will need to feel looked after and nourished with all the exercise and mountain air! . The food is fresh, local and seasonal. Included are a delicious brunch with granola, eggs, juices and fruit, and a gourmet buffet style evening feast. Food on our retreats is as important as our yoga.

ACTIVITIES

There are plenty of activities on offer from a gentle stroll to an organised hike, mountain biking or simply relaxing in the luxurious alpine chalet with its own outdoor Jacuzzi, sauna and pretty alpine patio with stunning views or you can visit the local spa for many treatments or a swim in their lovely outdoor mountain view pool. We can also arrange an inhouse massage.

A day designed to allow you to pause from your everyday life and deeply nourish the body, mind, and soul. It is an opportunity to reconnect to yourself: who you are…and who you are becoming.

During the day we will be aligning with the upcoming spring season to cleanse the body of the heavy damp cold of winter and lighten up on a mental, physical, and emotional level. We call it a restorative detox because sustainable cleansing and healing of the body and mind requires wisdom, gentleness, and rest—as taught in the ancient systems of healing such as Ayurveda. The yoga classes have been designed to support a restorative detoxification process in the body and the food will give the body a chance to restore the digestive fire. You will leave feeling lighter and leaner. An incredible valuable, opportunity to ‘’disconnect to reconnect’’ to your Self.

The day will start with a slow but flowing practise to include meditation, followed by a Hatha and Pranayama. The afternoon will be a spring themed Yin Detox and sound bath with the incredible healing sounds of Gongs and Tibetan bowls, all these practises will help to realign you as a whole and to have a healthier relationship with your body and soul. A Delicious and detoxifying plant based lunch (vegan will be catered for) will be crafted with love by The Kitchen @ primrose hill.

YOGA STYLES TAUGHT ON RETREAT:

With my 12 years of teaching experience, all levels are welcome and will be accommodated for. Expect a mix of dynamic and flowing, slower and more alignment approached, longer held Yin postures guided meditations and fully restorative to fully support mind, body and soul.

The island is about 16km² and is one of the safest places in the World. The island is about 40 Km away from the mainland so it will always be kept well away from the crowds.

GETTING THERE

Many airlines fly to Bangkok, if you intend to only come to the island we also advise taking an internal flight to Trat for ease and comfort which is just a 1 hour flight from Bangkok. However I’d recommend a few days in Bangkok and then taking a private or shared transfer to Trat, where you can then take a boat to Koh Mak.

Koh Mak is situated in the center of the Koh Chang archipelago, around 15 km south of Koh Chang and around 10 km north of Koh Kood. Koh Mak is connected to the mainland via a pier in Laem Ngop south of Trat operated by several boat companies (Panan – and Leelwadee speedboat ) and its linked to the nearby islands Koh Kood, Koh Chang and Koh Wai by speed- and slow boats.

The Venue

Poundon house is stunning and spacious; set within six acres of landscaped gardens on the edge of the Oxfordshire-Buckinghamshire border. This Queen Anne style  House offers a luxury escape in the peace and tranquility of the countryside, with the bonus of being within easy reach of London, Oxford, Milton Keynes, Birmingham, the Cotswolds and Bristol.

Once you arrive at Poundon House, you will feel immediately at home. Whether it is settling down in front of a roaring open fire, taking a long bath in one of the unique bathrooms or going for a quiet walk in the apple orchard, for over a century Poundon has been the perfect place to escape the bustle of city life.

Covid-19  Safety Measures 

To make it easier to socially distance we are limiting the numbers by a third to 12 on this retreat, and  encouraging guests to take a single  room as much as possible.  

All high touched surfaces and  bathrooms will be cleaned regularly throughout the retreat, and we will be asking guests to wipe down handles and taps after each use. Hand santiser will be widely available and we encourage you to also bring your own. We ask that you wash your hands regularly. 

Guests will be split into social bubbles of up to 6, sharing bathrooms, dining tables and living rooms to relax in. 

Meals will be socially distanced and appropriately served to allow for this.  

We are asking that you bring your own yoga mat and props where possible. If this is not possible we can provide, and they will have been thoroughly cleaned before you use them. 

We ask guests if they have any symptoms at all they do not come on the retreat.   Make sure you have travel insurance, which includes cancellation, in  incase you need to cancel due to having covid-19.

Having lived and taught in this beautiful part of the world for the last 8 years, I have a deep passion to share my love of the mountains and yoga.
Chatel is a beautiful village nestled within the valleys of the Porte du Soleil area in the French Alps. It's a picturesque and traditional resort, sporting panoramic views of the infamous Mont Blanc and the Dent du midi. Located in the region of Haute Savoie, and on the French border with Switzerland. Ideally placed right in the middle of the Portes du Soleil, Chatel is the gateway to a marvelous summer playground. You will never forget the miles of open spaces surrounding the meadows, from where you can head off into the middle of nowhere.

Whether you just want to relax, or love the thrill of downhill mountain-biking or enjoy a spot of alpine road biking, or prefer hiking over mountain passes, or maybe even paragliding or white water rafting, we have something for everyone. With the combination of yoga to help support the activity of your choice, luxurious accommodation to relax in, sunshine to fill your days, you will feel life just couldn’t get any better.

HOLIDAY OUTLINE

Begin your day the yogi way with a morning yoga class to warm you up ready for the day ahead. Then there’s a delicious healthy brunch, followed by your own time to do whichever activity you desire, from hiking or biking across snow-peaked mountains, wild swimming in glacial lakes or in an outdoor pool with views to astound you, or white water rafting. If you just prefer to relax the chalet has a sauna, an outdoor spa and a lovely terrace with mountain views, there is also a fabulous spa in the village centre with thermal waters and spa treatments. Early evening we will wind down with another yoga and meditation class, followed by fabulous home cooked food. After dinner chill out in the hot tub underneath the stars then snuggle down for a well deserved and blissful sleep.

ACCOMMODATION

La Chaumiere is a luxurious mountain chalet with breathtaking views in a peaceful location in Chatel. There are all the comforts you will need to relax with the comfiest of beds, crisp linen sheets, huge soft sofas, log fires and above all a welcoming atmosphere.

THE YOGA

The morning sessions are a more dynamic practice to help us stretch, lengthen and warm the body in preparation for a day of adventure! Special focus is on the legs in order to build stamina for those hill-walks or other activities. The evening class is gentle Yin or restorative yoga to stretch out and relax sore muscles and joints. The session will vary and we will include pranayama & meditation to help you to really let go and enter a state of deep relaxation.

The classes are suitable for all abilities, everyone welcome. I am practiced at adapting the class for everyone’s level. The asanas and meditation will help increase oxygen flow, balance, clarity and promote a peaceful mind. Nina our lovely 2nd yoga teacher on the retreat, will be offering an occasinal alternative class if you prefer a slower paced class, and co teach with me on one of the evening Yin classes.


THE FOOD

Enjoy delicious, healthy homemade food, which is an integral part of our Yoga retreat. You will need to feel looked after and nourished with all the exercise and mountain air! . The food is fresh, local and seasonal. Included are a delicious brunch with granola, eggs, juices and fruit, and a gourmet buffet style evening feast with organic and carefully chosen French wines. Food on our retreats is as important as our yoga.

ACTIVITIES

There are plenty of activities on offer from a gentle stroll to an organised hike, mountain biking or simply relaxing in the luxurious alpine chalet with its own outdoor Jacuzzi, sauna and pretty alpine patio with stunning views or you can visit the local spa for many treatments or a swim in their lovely outdoor mountain view pool.
