Awaken to nature.
Many women feel alone and disconnected from who they truly are. This retreat will offer a powerful experience to bring women together and teach you how to express yourself authentically, so you can feel more passion and freedom in your life.
Casa Terra is a serene sanctuary located in the Tavira region of the Southern Algarve—a simple and elegant eco haven, blending harmoniously with the natural surroundings. Casa Terra offers unique and stylish bedrooms with private terraces, and open living spaces with views to the surrounding countryside and the distant ocean.
There's a freshwater pool, swimming lake, and light and spacious yoga studio to add to the beauty of the natural landscape. Stunning beaches are a short drive or ferry/boat ride away, and the charming little port town of Tavira, crossed by the River.
Welcome to Altanure
Our property is part of Altanure. Altanure is, above all, a way of approaching the environment. Our intention is to develop and organize natural spaces so that you can feel this connection with nature.
Altanure, “Être la nature” [Being nature].
In an edible landscape organized in harmony with the extraordinary biotope that surrounds the house, and where guests can find a cultivated orchard and a permaculture vegetable garden, guests will naturally be in tune with their own inner environment.
The environment of Altanure is marked by the natural beauty of the bucolic landscape of the Tavira region and its proximity to the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve. This unique ecosystem is intrinsically linked to the region and its biotope, with its lagoons forming a barrier beach with sandbanks and extensive beaches.
Behind the coast, the Barrocal is the Algarve scrubland that connects the coastal plain to the mountains, dotted with orange, almond, olive, and carob trees. Further afield, the regional landscape gives way to the red earth of rounded hills, quiet villages, and craft factories.

Yoga Shala
The yoga shala called ”Dojo” is equipped with 20 yoga mats, 16 Zafus meditation pillows, 16 bolsters, 22 cork blocks, and 16 yoga straps.
The Yoga and other practices
Teachers: Lisa Valentine and Samantha Bowers
The morning sessions are embodied and awakening (flow, hatha style & 1 intro to kundalini) to help us reconnect each day with our beautiful bodies. The evening class is gentle somatic, Yin/restorative yoga to stretch out and relax sore muscles and joints. The session will vary, and we will include Sacred ceremonies, pranayama, meditation, mantra, mudras, and sound healing to help you explore your true self, let go, and enter a state of deep relaxation.
The classes are suitable for all abilities; everyone is welcome. I am practiced at adapting the class for all levels; however, ideally for this retreat, you have some yoga or other movement, and also be open to exploring new modalities that will support you as you journey through whatever phase you might be in.
The asanas and meditation will help increase oxygen flow, balance, clarity, and promote a peaceful mind. Please see my about page for more info on the styles I teach, as you will experience a little of all.
Yoga Retreat Accommodation
Casa Terra offers beautifully decorated bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms and private terraces. On the first floor of the main house, two spacious bedrooms, one with a terrace, enjoy superb sea views. Surrounded by myrtle and vetiver, the five ground-floor rooms blend into the landscaped setting, offering privacy and comfort. The rooms are bright, simple, and refined, and each has a corner terrace under an umbrella of eucalyptus. Simple interiors provide plenty of natural light and a sense of calmness. The common spaces of the main house open onto the garden and terrace with a seating area and dining table in the shade of a grapevine.
Food
Delicious and healthy vegetarian Brunch and dinner will be offered each day, there will be 2 nights not catered, allowing us to visit the local restaurants.
Locally sourced, seasonal foods will be offered, integrating as many fruits and vegetables as possible from the land, bringing the farm-to-table concept. Teas, fruit, and nuts will be available throughout the day.
Things to do
Aside from the daily yoga timetable, there will be time to relax in this peaceful haven. There's a freshwater pool and a swimming lake for refreshing dips. Ayurvedic massage treatments can be arranged with local therapists.
Explore the diverse landscape of the Rio Formosa. Take a hike or spend a day at one of the many sweeping sandy beaches along this stunning coastline; some are only accessible by ferry or boat.
For traditional Portuguese culture, the picturesque port town of Tavira is 6 km away. A hive of cultural activity with a daily market, Moorish architecture, and many restaurants.
