  • Lisa Valentine Yoga CV47 2YY United Kingdom (map)

Friday 16th January @Manor Farm Studio, Fenny Compton 7-9pm

£30pp

In this session we will honour the water element which refers to the energy system in Chinese medicine., representing stillness, fluidity, and winter. The associated emotion is Fear, and it is cultivated through practices like Yin Yoga to foster vitality, adaptability, and a deep sense of inner balance and peace.

Water is the most Yin phase of the Five-Element cycle. Yin is slower, inward, downward, and more feminine. In this stage related to winter, the land becomes quiet and dormant, animal movements slow, water turns to ice, and plants store energy in their roots.

The Water element represents the deepest parts of nature and our bodies. Our bones, energetic Kidneys, and Bladder are most closely associated with this element.

Practices emphasizing rest and receptivity support the Water element and its associated organs and tissues. Yoga poses targeting the Kidney and Bladder meridians also support this system.

This workshop cultivates harmony and balance as we breathe into our yin poses, releasing and letting go of tension, increasing flexibility as our Fascia, connective tissues and bones are energised as we soften into our edge. Stimulate the meridian channels, releasing blockages and encouraging energy, Chi, Prana, life force energy to flow through your entire being.

At the end of the session we will have a Yoga Nidra to fully connect to our Sankalpa/Intention and to create a sense of true rest and restore.

Sankalpa means an intention formed by the heart and mind -- a solemn vow, determination, or will. In practical terms a Sankalpa means a one-pointed resolve to focus both psychologically and philosophically on a specific goal. A sankalpa is a tool meant to refine the will, and to focus and harmonize mind and body

More info:

In Yin Yoga, we hold the poses for a longer time than usual awakening to the more yin qualities of the self.
As we stretch into a pose and let go, we address mostly the connective tissue and the ligaments of the body.

In the modern world, we find that many yang patterns and the archetype of the "warrior" are quite predominant.
We are "dreaming" of another reality in which we might find more happiness, we struggle to change what is...

As we soften into our heart and body tissues we become more ready to simply flow with life. Our muscles relax,
our fascia becomes more elastic and plastic. The heart softens.

Yin Yoga is a beautiful ceremony. It vibrates to different rhythms and traditions, recites poetry, follows our heartbeat and it's quality is always Love.
