Who is your best friend? A girlfriend, husband, partner……. I really hope not, your best, best friend should be yourself. It is time to start putting ourselves first, yes, putting ourselves first, not second, third of tenth in line whilst we boost everybody else’s confidence.
Self-compassion is treating yourself with kindness, encouraging yourself and believing that you can achieve anything you want. It is not saying unkind things or feeling bad about yourself. It is acceptance that we will face setbacks, have highs and lows. Sometime we may not stay as fit as we want, or eat as healthy as we want, but, speak to yourself as you would a friend by encouraging yourself.
Stop self-criticism and focus on all the good bits even when you are stressed. If you are having a bad day, take a deep breath and think about all the good things in your life and focus on these things, because tomorrow is a new day, a day to start again and a day to get back on track.
