Yin yoga if you haven’t heard of it yet, I urge you to check it out.
Yin yoga is about passive postures which are normally carried out on the floor, I find it calming, helping to balance mind and body, as we work deep into poses which are targeted to the lower body, pelvis and spinal cord. The poses are held for 2-5 minutes which means we can stretch and feel into the spaces of our body which in turn creates better lubrication and protection of our joints, and opens us up to more flexibility in both our joints and connective tissue. We work at going into a deeper relaxation which will benefit any anxiety or stress and stop any mind chatter.
Energetically, when sequenced in a certain way we can also create chi movement through the difference meridian organ pairs which has many long term health benefits, Emotionally Yin yoga is a quiet practice, that heals and nourishes and can sometimes create emotional effects. It also can act as a form of meditation if you find sitting in one spot not comfortable. Yin yoga is the opposite of yang which is all about action and strengthening exercises, Yin compliments that lifestyle by stretching and restoring muscles, making it a perfect combination.
People who have been coming to my Yin classes have told me how it has stimulated their awareness and joy of their breath and emotions, which has opened them up to the joy of life itself. I teach a few yin & yang classes and a mindfulness yin every Tuesday at 8.35pm. If space you can currently book this one week by week.
