As we move fully into Autumn, the nights are getting longer, it is getting dark early and it is a time when we can all become lethargic, start to comfort eat, have a glass of wine as the nights seem so long. We start to feel a little low because we are not getting the sunshine, we don’t want to exercise as our energy slumps…… I know I am feeling it, are you?
As we are only at the start of the long nights we need to fight this impulse and look after ourselves more, because if we just stay indoors we will feel worse. It is important at this time of year to keep up our yoga practice, setting our intentions and following through. It is important to get outside and breath in the fresh air, catch as much of that sunshine that we can. The more we get outside the more Vitamin D our bodies are collecting. Start stocking up on Vitamin C eating lots of fresh fruit and vegetables to keep those bugs at bay, eat good healthy comfort food.
Finally, challenge yourself, take up a new hobby, set yourself challenges with your yoga or gym practice, learn a language. Soon you will be too busy to notice that it has gone dark outside.
