Balance is so important for us in many ways, especially as we get older and are more prone to falling. It is important to understand our own body alignment and is why one legged balance poses are used in our yoga practice every time.
It gives us the chance to centre our gravity, even if we are wobbling all over the place. We need to stay focused during our balance poses otherwise we just fall over, but they can give us a huge sense of calm.
We have a number of standing balance poses that we practice, including tree pose, eagle pose, warrior III, dancer’s pose and these poses all strengthen the legs and knee joints, they also give us emotional and spiritual balance. When life gets hectic and things start to escalate out of control, the relaxation experience you have during your yoga practice brings focus and balance to your life after you leave the mate.
